Tinubu urges diaspora doctors to return home

President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerian medical doctors and other healthcare professionals living abroad to return home, stating their expertise is crucial for transforming the nation's healthcare sector.

Receiving a delegation of Nigerian Diaspora Medical Associations in Abuja, Tinubu stressed that the country needs the knowledge, innovation, and patriotism of its skilled professionals to build a world-class healthcare system. He shared his personal journey, returning to Nigeria after his career abroad to contribute to nation-building, and encouraged others to do the same, emphasizing that "there's nowhere like home."

The president reaffirmed that his administration's Renewed Hope Agenda prioritizes healthcare. He outlined plans for significant reforms, including sustained investments in medical education, research, and digital health infrastructure. The government also aims to improve welfare and implement policies to combat the brain drain phenomenon that has seen many Nigerian professionals seek opportunities overseas.
