Toddler Killed by Uncle in Bekasi Suffered 32 Stab Wounds

A two-year-old child in Bekasi, Indonesia, suffered 32 stab wounds in a brutal killing allegedly perpetrated by his 18-year-old uncle, according to police. The horrific incident occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at a rented house in the Jatirangga area of Jatisampurna.

Komisaris Andi Muhammad Iqbal, head of the Bekasi Metro Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, detailed the extent of the injuries. "The results of the autopsy from the Police Hospital show approximately 20 stab wounds on the face alone, and 12 stab wounds on the body," Iqbal stated in an interview on Friday, May 29, 2026. Police also found slash wounds on the victim's body, believed to have been inflicted with a kitchen knife.

The motive, as reported by the police, stemmed from the suspect's anger when the toddler climbed onto his back while he was playing a game. In a fit of rage, the suspect allegedly used a knife to stab the child, who died at the scene.

Following the alleged murder, the suspect reportedly attempted to take his own life using the same knife. He survived the suicide attempt and is currently receiving medical treatment while awaiting psychiatric evaluation. Police noted that the suspect has a history of psychiatric disorders and regularly takes tranquilizers.

The suspect faces charges under Article 80 Paragraph 3 of the Child Protection Law, subsidiary to Article 458 of the Criminal Code, with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a fine of Rp3 billion.
