Tok Pa Among Over 21,858 Rejoining Malaysia's UMNO Party

Former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, also known as Tok Pa, is among the prominent figures reportedly rejoining UMNO. He is part of a wave of 21,858 new and returning members who have registered with the party since online sign-ups officially began on April 20.

Since the online registration officially opened on April 20, 2026, until the UMNO Supreme Council Meeting on June 10, 2026. In less than two months, the registration of new members and the return of former UMNO leaders and members, including Bersatu leaders from across Malaysia, totals 21,858.

UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki stated that the registrations were recorded up to the UMNO Supreme Council meeting on June 10. The surge in membership encompasses new individuals, former party leaders, and members, including leaders from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) nationwide.

"In less than two months, the registration of new members and the return of former UMNO leaders and members, including Bersatu leaders from across Malaysia, totals 21,858," Asyraf announced via a Facebook post. The post included a graphic featuring several former leaders, such as Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, Tan Sri Noh Omar, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar, and Datuk Mokhtar Samad, alongside Mustapa.

The graphic bore the message "Welcome back home to Rumah Bangsa," symbolizing the return of these former leaders and members. Asyraf conveyed his hope that this renewed participation would inject fresh strength into UMNO, which he referred to as "Rumah Bangsa" (House of the Nation). "May Allah bless and bestow mercy upon this House of the Nation, which has contributed greatly to shaping and elevating religion, race, and the homeland throughout eight decades of struggle," he added.
