Tokat Healthcare Workers Protest 'Workload' Burden; Ministry Failing to Meet Hospital Needs

Healthcare workers at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University are protesting what they describe as an unsustainable workload and problematic shift system. Ozan Şen, the provincial head of the Genel Sağlık-İş union, voiced strong criticism regarding the hospital administration's failure to address the critical shortage of personnel.

Şen highlighted the urgent need for more nurses, stating that the union requested between 180 and 200 new appointments during the ministry's allocation period. However, the ministry only approved positions for 30 nurses, a figure Şen deems insufficient to alleviate the strain on existing staff.

"We do not accept any work arrangement that disproportionately increases the workload," Şen declared, emphasizing the workers' refusal to tolerate conditions that compromise their well-being and potentially patient care. The union has formally submitted a request to the Chief Physician's office to resolve the issue, signaling a formal escalation of their demands.
