Tongyeong Murder Suspect's CCTV Footage Released

Authorities have released CCTV footage of a suspect in a murder case that has gone unsolved for over a month in Tongyeong, South Korea. The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency shared the video on Tuesday, with the consent of the victim's family, in hopes of eliciting public assistance.

The footage shows the suspect entering the victim's home in the early hours of June 10. The individual's face was completely obscured by a hat and mask, and gloves were worn. While the suspect's age is unclear, they appear to be a man of robust build. The suspect spent nearly two hours inside the residence before leaving.

Upon exiting, the suspect was seen carrying a handbag and a weapon, along with a motion detector. Police believe the motion detector, found on the victim's terrace, was mistaken for a CCTV main unit and taken by the suspect. The victim, a woman in her 60s, was found stabbed multiple times in her home's annex by her family on the morning of June 10.

Police are investigating the case as a robbery-homicide but have yet to identify or apprehend the suspect. A reward of up to 100 million won is being offered for decisive tips that lead to the perpetrator's arrest. Information can be provided by calling 055-640-0219 or 0173.
