Tony Agenmonmen at 70: Marketing icon, mentor and gentleman

Family, friends, and colleagues are gathering on August 8 in Lagos to honor Tony Agenmonmen on his 70th birthday, celebrating a life marked by excellence, integrity, and a deep commitment to advancing the marketing profession in Nigeria.

A distinguished career at Nigerian Breweries Plc, spanning over three decades, saw Agenmonmen rise through the ranks. He developed a profound understanding of consumer behavior, brand management, strategic marketing, and corporate leadership, earning respect across the business community for his competence and calm, analytical approach.

Agenmonmen viewed marketing not just as selling products, but as understanding people, creating value, building trust, and sustaining relationships. These principles defined his career and continue to guide his work as a sought-after marketing strategist and consultant after his retirement at 60.

His passion for the profession remains undiminished, exemplified by his role in establishing the annual Nigeria Marketing Awards. This prestigious event celebrates excellence and innovation, fostering healthy competition and inspiring younger practitioners. Furthermore, as a two-term President of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN), he provided visionary leadership.
