Top Cannes Films to Screen at 20th BNP Paribas Dwa Brzegi Festival

The 20th BNP Paribas Dwa Brzegi festival will feature a lineup of critically acclaimed films, including Lukas Dhont's "Coward," which explores maturation in extreme conditions and the facets of cowardice. The film earned acting awards at Cannes for Emmanuel Macchia and Valentin Campagne.

Rodrigo Sorogoyen's "The Beloved," starring Javier Bardem as a film director, will close the festival. Cristián Mungiu's Palme d'Or winner, "Fjord," a social-psychological drama about a family's ideological and moral conflicts, will be shown during the opening weekend.

Other highlights include Andrey Zvyagintsev's "Minotaur," a Grand Prix winner at Cannes 2026, examining moral decay in contemporary Russia. The festival will also present "The Black Ball" by Javier Ambrosio and Javier Calvo, an epic multi-generational story inspired by a lost Federico García Lorca manuscript, and Pawel Pawlikowski's "Fatherland," chronicling Thomas Mann's journey through Germany.

"A Man of His Time," recognized for its screenplay and technical achievements at Cannes, draws inspiration from director Emmanuel Marre's great-grandfather. Ryûsuke Hamaguchi's "All of a Sudden" earned acting awards for Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto for its subtle portrayal of two women discovering closeness. Asghar Farhadi's "Parallel Tales," inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski, will also premiere, featuring Isabelle Huppert and Catherine Deneuve.

Pedro Almodóvar's "Bitter Christmas" offers a melancholic drama about loss and family secrets, while Charline Bourgeois-Taquet's "A Woman's Life" presents a subtle portrait of a doctor re-evaluating her life. Léa Mysius's "The Birthday Party" is a suspenseful thriller about a family's disrupted peace on a remote property.
