Toronto police seek 3 suspects after fatal North York shooting

A 22-year-old man is dead and two others are hospitalized with serious injuries following a targeted shooting in North York late Friday. Police responded to reports of gunfire near Jane Street and Sheppard Avenue West around 11 p.m., finding three men in their 20s with gunshot wounds. The victim, identified as Abdi Hamim Aden, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It’s very early in our investigation, but it does appear that this shooting was targeted.

Investigators believe the shooting was targeted, according to Det. Sgt. Sandra Arruda of the homicide unit. Three suspects, described as tall, lanky males dressed in black with covered faces, escaped in a stolen black Honda Civic. Police located the vehicle burned in Brampton early Saturday.

We’re asking for any witnesses to come forward, any information you may have in regards to the scene here or in regards to the scene where the car was located.

Authorities are appealing to the public for witnesses and dash camera footage from the shooting area or where the vehicle was found. "The only way we can continue to put a dent in the violence in this city is to continue to solve these homicides and put those that are responsible for this type of crime behind bars," Arruda stated, urging community cooperation.
