Trial continues for 'serial predator' Mika Moring accused of murder

The trial of Mika Moring, known as a "serial predator," is continuing in Kuopio, Finland, where he faces charges of murder and aggravated abduction in the death of Saara Arva. Arva vanished in August 2019 at the age of 35, and her remains were discovered in May 2024 in a remote location in Vesanto.

Moring, who has prior convictions for numerous sexual and violent crimes, was last seen with Arva in the spring of 2019. They had met in Helsinki and traveled together by car through Lapland and North Savo. Prosecutors are seeking a minimum nine-year prison sentence for Moring, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Evidence presented includes ATM images, account details, and items found near Arva's remains, such as bones, a pocketknife, and clothing. The prosecution highlighted a tear on a bra found at the scene, suggesting it was caused by a pocketknife to the chest. The core of the dispute lies in the interpretation of Moring and Arva's relationship.
