Tourist Boat Capsizes After Collision on Vietnam's Lan Ha Bay, One Dead

A tragic accident occurred on Vietnam's Lan Ha Bay when a tourist boat capsized following a collision between two passenger vessels, claiming the life of a female tourist. Local authorities in Hai Phong City are urgently investigating the incident, which took place on June 14.

According to the Hai Phong Inland Waterway Port Authority, both boats involved, HP 5665 and HP 3847, had undergone all necessary safety inspections and possessed valid documentation before commencing their tour. The boats were carrying a total of 41 passengers and 4 crew members.

The collision happened around 9:05 a.m. near the Vạn Bội cove area as the two boats were traveling parallel to each other. The impact caused boat HP 3847 to capsize, sending its 10 passengers and 1 crew member into the water.

Rescue efforts were immediately launched by nearby vessels and a working boat. While all individuals were pulled from the water, a 43-year-old female tourist, identified as N.T.N., sustained severe injuries and later died at the Cat Hai Special Administrative Region Medical Center. The scene has been cordoned off for further investigation into the cause of the collision.
