Township plan approved for Kunar earthquake-affected families

A special township has been approved for families affected by earthquakes in Afghanistan's eastern Kunar province. The Minister of Urban Development and Housing, Mawlawi Najibullah Hayat Haqqani, signed off on the detailed plan for the new settlement.

The township will be constructed on 1,000 jeribs of land in the Gambiri area of Nangarhar province. It is designed to accommodate 1,511 residential plots. The plan incorporates essential urban planning elements, including mosques, green spaces, parks, schools, public service zones, and internal roads, all built to standard engineering requirements.

Minister Haqqani stated that the township's implementation is crucial for restoring normalcy to the lives of earthquake-affected families. He emphasized its role in promoting organized urban development and establishing adequate housing facilities. The ministry affirmed its commitment to accelerating development projects that provide shelter, basic services, and safety for disaster victims, in line with leadership directives.
