Toyota Camry Price Barrier Raised in Taiwan with Removal of Entry-Level Model

Toyota's popular Camry sedan in Taiwan has seen a significant adjustment to its model lineup, effectively removing the most affordable option. The entry-level 2.0-liter luxury model, previously priced under one million New Taiwan dollars, has been quietly removed from the official website. This move raises the starting price for a new Camry to 1.109 million New Taiwan dollars for the remaining 2.0-liter flagship model. The other available variants are the 2.5 Hybrid Prestige at 1.129 million and the top-tier 2.5 Hybrid flagship at 1.25 million New Taiwan dollars. The sole remaining gasoline-only model is the 2.0-liter flagship, equipped with a Dynamic Force engine producing 171 horsepower and 20.7 kgm of torque. It is paired with a Direct Shift-CVT transmission and achieves an average fuel economy of 16.3 km/L. This model comes standard with Toyota's Safety Sense 3.0 active safety suite. The 2.5-liter hybrid models utilize a combination of a 186-horsepower 2.5-liter gasoline engine and a 136-horsepower electric motor, achieving a more impressive average fuel economy of 25.3 km/L. The removal of the sub-million dollar option means potential buyers seeking a Camry will now face a higher entry cost.
