Toyota Hilux 2.8 Mild Hybrid Arrives in Lithuania: What Sets the Pickup Apart?

Toyota’s latest Hilux has reached Lithuanian dealerships with an electrified option that keeps the pickup’s heavy-duty credentials intact. The Hilux 2.8 mild hybrid combines a familiar 2.8-liter diesel engine with a 48-volt hybrid system.

The system produces 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Toyota says it allows smoother acceleration, quieter operation of the Stop-Start function and lower fuel consumption, while preserving the durability and versatility associated with the Hilux.

The pickup retains a payload of more than one tonne and can tow a trailer weighing up to 3,500 kilograms. Its hybrid components have been adapted for demanding conditions, allowing it to cross water up to 700 millimeters deep and maintain its off-road capability.

The updated Hilux also brings a redesigned exterior and a substantially revised interior inspired by the new Toyota Land Cruiser. The cabin offers more comfort, upgraded materials and expanded digital connectivity. Electric power steering is intended to make maneuvering easier, while Multi-Terrain Select, Multi-Terrain Monitor and the latest Toyota Safety Sense package add to its off-road and driver-assistance features.

Toyota says more than 27 million Hilux pickups have been sold worldwide over seven decades. In Lithuania, buyers can now choose between the fully electric Hilux BEV and the mild-hybrid Hilux 2.8. The mild-hybrid model starts at 42,900 euros.
