Toyota launches upgraded Hilux off-road pickup in Taiwan

Toyota has officially launched its all-new Hilux off-road pickup truck in Taiwan, presenting a vehicle that balances rugged capability with enhanced daily comfort and a premium interior.

The exterior of the new Hilux features sharper design elements, including LED Bi-Beam headlights, a raised hood, and pronounced fender flares, creating a more aggressive stance. The sides are adorned with 18-inch sport alloy wheels and a "TOYOTA" tailgate with a soft-close function, blending the truck's inherent toughness with a modern, luxurious feel.

Inside, the cabin receives a significant upgrade with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. These displays support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The audio experience is elevated by a 9-speaker JBL sound system with a subwoofer, complemented by Qi wireless charging and premium leather seats, ensuring a comfortable and feature-rich environment.

For off-road enthusiasts, the Hilux introduces the MTS (Multi-Terrain Select) intelligent off-road system, offering nine modes for various terrains, and the MTM (Multi-Terrain Monitor) system. The MTM utilizes front, side, and rear cameras, including an underfloor view, to provide drivers with a comprehensive real-time display of the vehicle's surroundings and blind spots, enhancing safety during challenging off-road excursions.

Under the hood, the Hilux is equipped with a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine that produces 204 horsepower and 51 kgm of torque. This is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and a transfer case, with a rear-wheel-drive architecture that can switch to four-wheel drive. Features like Auto LSD (Automatic Limited-Slip Differential) and rear differential lock further bolster its off-road prowess while ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride on regular roads, thanks to technologies like Dynamic Cloud Technology and a retuned suspension system.
