Toyota's Compact MPV Facelift Features Bold Exterior and New Hybrid Powertrain Delivering Over 30 km/L

Toyota's popular compact MPV, the Roomy, is scheduled for a significant upgrade in September. While not a full model change, the update will introduce revised styling, an updated powertrain, and enhanced safety features, maintaining the current chassis.

The exterior is expected to adopt a more assertive appearance, characterized by substantial horizontal chrome trim and a unique boomerang-shaped headlight integrated with the grille. A wider lower grille will contribute to a more premium look. The body will feature pronounced lines and squared-off wheel arches, giving the vehicle a more rugged aesthetic.

Inside, the Roomy is anticipated to receive a 10.5-inch touchscreen supporting Apple CarPlay and potentially a 7-inch or 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Interior design elements and material quality are also expected to be refined, while retaining the model's signature flexible and practical interior space.

Under the hood, the updated Roomy is rumored to feature the new generation e-SMART Hybrid system. This system utilizes a dual electric motor setup for primary drive, producing 106 horsepower and 17.4 kg-m of torque. The 1.2-liter engine will function as a generator, with the hybrid powertrain projected to achieve fuel efficiency exceeding 30 kilometers per liter.
