TPVL changes president before second season as Song Kuo-wei sets three goals

Taiwan’s professional volleyball league is changing leadership just before its second season, with Song Kuo-wei taking over as president from Lien Hua-jung.

The TPVL said Lien was stepping down after completing a phase of his work and because of his personal career plans and future development. The handover ceremony had already been completed, marking what the league described as a new stage of development.

The league credited Lien with helping guide it through major challenges since its launch. It said he played a pioneering role in professionalizing volleyball in Taiwan, expanding the competition, improving broadcast quality and strengthening cohesion among the clubs.

Song, who has worked across sports and industry partnerships, said he would focus on strengthening league regulations, deepening ties with grassroots volleyball and building stronger links between home and away venues and their communities. He also wants to improve the league’s international competitiveness. “This is an honor, but also a heavy responsibility,” Song said. He pledged to listen to fans, support the clubs and help build a more attractive and sustainable top-level competition.
