Trabzonspor refuse to lower Nwaiwu’s price

Trabzonspor has rebuffed multiple attempts by Tottenham Hotspur, Crystal Palace, and Fulham to sign Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu, standing firm on their asking price. The Turkish club is unwilling to lower their valuation for the 23-year-old center-back, who has attracted significant attention following an impressive six-month spell in Turkey.

Fulham made two offers, initially proposing €20 million, which was immediately rejected. They later increased their bid to €25 million, with an additional €3 million in performance-related add-ons. However, Trabzonspor deemed both offers insufficient. Crystal Palace, Tottenham Hotspur, and Italian club Napoli have also been linked with the player, potentially waiting for circumstances to change.

The offers we received for Chibuike Nwaiwu were far below our expectations. Under these circumstances, we are absolutely not considering selling him.

Trabzonspor has made it clear that Nwaiwu will only be sold if a club meets their minimum valuation of €30 million. Club president Ertuğrul Doğan stated that the offers received were far below expectations and that the player is not considering selling him under current circumstances. He emphasized that no offer has come close to their valuation, confirming the player's intention to stay with the team.

Nwaiwu joined Trabzonspor from Austrian club Wolfsberger AC in January 2026 for approximately €5.5 million. His value has since surged due to his outstanding performances in the latter half of the season. He quickly established himself as a regular starter, contributing to Trabzonspor's Turkish Cup victory. Nwaiwu featured in 21 matches across all competitions, scoring three goals and providing one assist. His versatility, able to play as both a central defender and a defensive midfielder, has further enhanced his appeal to potential suitors.
