Tractor-trailer carrying motorcycles catches fire on Ben Thuy Bridge 2, destroying cargo

A tractor-trailer carrying a large load of motorcycles erupted in flames on Ben Thuy Bridge 2, which spans the Lam River connecting Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces in Vietnam. The fire started around 3 p.m. on June 21. The driver of the Nghệ An-plated vehicle noticed smoke and fire emanating from the rear of the trailer. He immediately stopped the truck and detached the tractor unit to prevent the fire from spreading. Despite his efforts, the intense heat and the proximity of the motorcycles caused the flames to engulf the trailer rapidly. Thick columns of smoke billowed dozens of meters into the air. Firefighters from Nghệ An were dispatched to the scene with multiple fire trucks. However, the motorcycles were packed tightly inside the container in two layers, making them unsalvageable. After the fire was extinguished, all the motorcycles were found to be completely destroyed, and the trailer was severely deformed. No injuries were reported, but the material losses were substantial. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the blaze.
