Traffic police enforce safe distance violations on specific highway sections

Vietnam's traffic police are intensifying efforts to enforce safe driving practices on highways, specifically targeting violations of maintaining a safe distance between vehicles. This enforcement is currently concentrated on highway sections that are clearly organized with visible markings indicating safe distances.

Authorities are recording and penalizing drivers who fail to adhere to these safety margins while traveling in the same lane and direction. Recent operations on highways like Phap Van - Cau Gie and Cao Bo - Mai Son - QL 45 - Nghi Son have resulted in numerous citations, including nine passenger vehicle drivers being penalized on the evening of August 27th alone.

Drivers caught violating the safe distance rule are shown video and photographic evidence of their infractions. The police report that drivers generally acknowledge their violations and comply with the ticketing process. The primary objective behind these enforcement actions is not simply to issue fines, but to serve as a warning and preventative measure against potential traffic accidents.

Special emphasis is placed on passenger vehicles, where maintaining a safe distance is deemed critical due to the number of lives at stake. The police highlight that insufficient distance can leave drivers with inadequate time to react to sudden events, potentially leading to chain-reaction collisions. The enforcement aims to cultivate a conscious habit of safe driving and adherence to traffic laws among all road users.
