Traffic post near Slipi flyover damaged after riots

A traffic police post located beneath the Slipi flyover in West Jakarta sustained significant damage after being deliberately set on fire by rioters. The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon and evening, following a demonstration held in front of the Indonesian Parliament building.

The Slipi traffic posts, both the one in the middle and the one on the side, were damaged by the mob.

AKP Sudarmo, deputy head of the traffic unit for the West Jakarta Metro Police, confirmed that both the central and roadside traffic posts in the Slipi area were vandalized. In addition to the posts, parts of the Transjakarta busway separators were also damaged and had not yet been cleared as of Friday morning.

The building structure was temporarily damaged. It's a permanent post, but the facilities inside, like the AC, glass, and so on, were also damaged.

Sudarmo explained that while the building structure of the post was damaged, essential internal facilities like air conditioning and glass were also affected, rendering the post temporarily unusable. He noted that this was not the first instance of vandalism at this location, recalling a similar incident in 2025.

The same incident happened in 2025. It was damaged again. This is the second time.

Nearby, in the Kemanggisan area of Palmerah, West Jakarta, authorities removed five damaged trucks that had also been targeted by the mob. Sudarmo clarified that while the trucks were vandalized, none were set on fire in the Kemanggisan incident.
