Traffic Restrictions in Riga for Australian Governor-General's Visit

Riga residents should prepare for significant traffic disruptions as several streets will experience restricted access due to the visit of the Australian Governor-General. The traffic limitations are scheduled to be in effect from July 28 to July 30.

Starting July 28 at 7 a.m. and continuing until July 30 at 5 p.m., parking and stopping will be prohibited on both sides of Teātra iela, between Aspazijas bulvāris and Vaļņu iela. A 50-meter section on the left side of Aspazijas bulvāris, near Teātra iela, will also be affected. On July 28, traffic may be temporarily restricted or closed in Rātslaukums, Latviešu strēlnieku laukums, and along the delegation's route in Vecrīga.

Further restrictions are planned for July 29. From 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., parking and stopping will be banned in Pils laukums, a section of Pils iela, and a part of Mazā Pils iela. Additionally, from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the same day, parking restrictions will apply to a segment of Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica bulvāris, Aspazijas bulvāris, and Brīvības laukums. Traffic may also be limited or briefly closed at several intersections, including those near the Bank of Latvia and in areas like Poļu gāte and Daugavas gāte.

On July 30, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., parking and stopping will be prohibited in Jāņa Rozentāla laukums. Traffic might be restricted or temporarily closed near the National Library on Uzvaras bulvāris and on Kalnciema iela. Public transport and pedestrian flow near sites visited by the delegation will be managed according to necessity throughout the visit.
