Tragedy in Patras – Father had a camera on his helmet – Child died instantly

A devastating road accident in Patras, Greece, has claimed the lives of a 52-year-old father and his 17-year-old son, plunging the local communities of Patras and Ancient Olympia into mourning.

The incident occurred on Sunday morning on the outskirts of Patras, near the Rio direction under the Peripheral Road bridge, close to the Dimitris Tofalos indoor gymnasium. The father and son were riding a large-displacement motorcycle when, under circumstances yet to be fully clarified, the vehicle veered off course, overturned, and violently collided with the protective guardrails.

According to reports, the father had a camera mounted on his helmet, which documented his motorcycle rides. Police discovered the camera after the accident and are currently reviewing the footage to determine if it captured the moments leading up to the crash or if another vehicle was involved. The impact was so forceful that the 17-year-old son died at the scene immediately. The father was transported to the University General Hospital of Patras in critical condition, but despite the efforts of medical staff, he later succumbed to his severe injuries.
