Tragedy in Vietnam: Boat Capsizes, Killing 15 Indian Tourists

A tragic incident occurred off the coast of southern Vietnam when a boat carrying Indian tourists capsized, resulting in the deaths of at least 15 people. The vessel was carrying 32 Indian nationals and four crew members when it overturned about 400 meters from Hon May Rut Ngoai island in the An Thoi archipelago.

The accident happened amidst rough seas on Saturday. Fortunately, several nearby tourist boats quickly responded to the emergency, rescuing 21 individuals who were trapped in the submerged vessel. The island of Hon May Rut Ngoai is a popular tourist destination, located about 10 kilometers from Phu Quoc, Vietnam's largest island.

Local authorities, led by senior communist official Nguyen Tien Hai, are actively working to ascertain the precise number of fatalities and survivors. Preliminary reports suggest that strong winds and high waves may have contributed to the boat capsizing. "The main priority is rescue, to bring all victims ashore and focus all efforts on providing emergency care to those who are still alive," Hai stated.

The Indian Embassy in Vietnam has described the incident as "tragic" and released a list of its citizens who were on board the boat. The focus remains on rescue efforts and providing aid to survivors while authorities investigate the cause of the disaster.
