Train collides with tractor in Germany, injuring 13

A regional train collided with a tractor at a railway crossing near Achterwehr in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein, resulting in minor injuries to eleven passengers and the train's driver and conductor. The incident occurred on July 14, leading to the closure of the rail line between Kiel and Rendsburg.

The tractor, pulling trailers, reportedly entered the technically secured crossing. The train's driver initiated an emergency brake, but a collision could not be avoided. The crossing is equipped with red lights and half-barriers. Authorities are investigating the possibility of a technical defect in the tractor contributing to the accident.

Sixty-four passengers were on board the train at the time of the collision. Medical personnel assessed the injured, most of whom were able to continue their journey. One woman was taken to the hospital complaining of pain. The train sustained significant damage, and the duration of the line closure remains uncertain. Replacement bus services have been established to maintain transport between Kiel and Rendsburg.
