Train Hits Person Near Žalec, 150 People Evacuated

A train struck a person near Žalec in the morning, forcing the evacuation of 147 passengers and three crew members. Firefighters from the Žalec and Vrbje volunteer fire brigades escorted everyone from the train to safety and arranged replacement transport.

The firefighters were activated at 8:02 a.m. after the incident on the railway line. A total of 21 firefighters took part, using five vehicles. They carried out the measures needed to evacuate the passengers safely and help secure the area.

Authorities are still determining the circumstances and consequences of the collision. Karolina Kos, public relations representative for the Žalec Firefighting Association, provided the information to Slovenske novice.

The report described the incident as one of a series of similar events on Slovenian railway lines this year. For the passengers, the disruption involved not only the collision itself but also the complex evacuation from the train.
