Transform Lemon Peels into a Powerful Natural Cleaner with White Vinegar

Don't discard your lemon peels after juicing; they can be transformed into a powerful, natural cleaning solution with just one additional common household ingredient: white vinegar.

This DIY cleaner harnesses the natural degreasing and deodorizing properties of lemons, combined with the cleaning power of vinegar. To prepare it, simply place lemon peels in a jar and cover them with white vinegar. For an enhanced scent, aromatic herbs like rosemary, mint, or lavender can be added.

The mixture should then steep for at least one to three weeks at room temperature. During this time, the vinegar will extract the essential oils from the lemon peels, which helps to mellow the vinegar's strong scent and boost the cleaner's efficacy. After steeping, strain the liquid to remove the peels and pour it into a spray bottle.

This versatile spray is effective for tackling grease, dirt, and unpleasant odors in kitchens and bathrooms. It can be used on countertops, sinks, tiles, shower stalls, bathtubs, toilets, and stainless steel surfaces. For tougher stains or grime in grout lines, allow the solution to sit for about ten minutes before wiping.

However, due to the acidic nature of both lemon and vinegar, this natural cleaner is not recommended for use on porous surfaces like marble, granite, or other natural stones, as it can cause damage. It should also be avoided on natural wood furniture and floors, as it may lead to discoloration or surface damage.
