Triathlon excitement in Istanbul's Bosphorus

Istanbul's iconic Bosphorus strait will once again host the 2026 Oral-B Istanbul Bosphorus Triathlon on Sunday, August 16. This event, the world's first and only intercontinental triathlon, is set to bring together approximately 1,000 athletes from Turkey and abroad for a challenging course that bridges two continents.

The triathlon, held under the auspices of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and organized by the Turkish Triathlon Federation, features a demanding 2.2-kilometer swim, a 40-kilometer bicycle race, and a 10-kilometer run. The cycling segment will see athletes pedal from Asia to Europe, necessitating the temporary closure of the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge to vehicular traffic for the duration of the race.

Bayram Yalçınkaya, President of the Turkish Triathlon Federation, expressed pride in hosting such a high-impact international event in Istanbul, a city rich in history and culture.
