Triay and Brea win their sixth title in Madrid after rallying past González and Josemaría

Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea turned a tense Madrid final around to claim their sixth title of the season. The world number one pair defeated Bea González and Paula Josemaría 6-7, 6-3, 6-3 at the Movistar Arena in front of more than 14,000 spectators.

González and Josemaría, the world number two pair, appeared to have the opening set under control after recovering from 2-5 down in the tiebreak. They won it 7-5 and moved closer to another victory in the season-long rivalry between the two duos.

The momentum shifted in the second set. At 2-2 and 15-30, Brea argued with the chair umpire after a VAR review. “You are not applying the rules now,” she told the official. Despite losing the following game and falling behind 2-3, Triay and Brea regrouped and won the set 6-3.

They imposed themselves in the deciding set, breaking González’s serve early to lead 2-1. From there, the pair maintained control and completed its first Madrid triumph together. Triay had already won the tournament once individually, as had Brea. The victory also added another milestone for the Minorcan, the first player to reach 200 Premier Padel wins.
