Trinity students excited for Anderson's Dublin Dior debut

Derry-born designer Jonathan Anderson has announced that the Dior Fall/Winter 2027 collection will be unveiled in Dublin. This significant fashion event is scheduled to take place on December 4th in the iconic Long Room at Trinity College Dublin, a space renowned for housing over 200,000 of the library's oldest books.

For students involved with the Trinity Fashion Society, this show represents more than just a glamorous industry gathering. It signifies Ireland's increasing global relevance in the fashion world. Eva McKone, head of social media for the society, expressed excitement, stating, "It's such an exciting time to be a young person interested in fashion in Ireland."

This marks the first occasion a legacy fashion house like Dior has chosen Dublin as a venue. Michael Sheehan, Chair of the Trinity Fashion Society, emphasized the importance of this event for Ireland. "As someone from Ireland, it means a heck of a lot to see something like this as usually we don't get big fashion moments like this, especially not from places like Dior," he said.

The Trinity Fashion Society has a history of hosting fashion shows across the Trinity College campus, including events at the Douglas Hyde Gallery. However, Sheehan believes the Long Room setting will surpass previous venues. "The Trinity Fashion Society over the years has shown that Trinity is a great venue for a fashion show," he noted, "But I think The Long Library blows that out of the water."
