Trobbiani, a Name with History, Takes Helm at Barcelona SC

Barcelona SC has appointed Pablo Trobbiani as their new head coach for the remainder of the season, stepping in after the departure of César Farías. Trobbiani inherits the role during a challenging period for the Guayaquil-based club.

Born in Elche, Spain, 49-year-old Trobbiani begins his tenure with Barcelona SC at a critical juncture in their campaign. His playing career spanned from 1996 to 2007, featuring stints with notable clubs such as Boca Juniors and Talleres de Córdoba in Argentina, Cobreloa in Chile, and several teams in Spain.

Trobbiani's coaching journey began in 2009 as an assistant to his father, Marcelo Trobbiani, who achieved significant success, including a World Cup win with Argentina in 1986 and a Copa Libertadores runner-up finish with Barcelona SC in 1990. He continued to work alongside his father and other coaching staff at various clubs, including Cienciano of Peru, Defensa y Justicia, Cobreloa, River Ecuador, Argentina's U-20 national team, and Barcelona SC itself.

As a head coach, Trobbiani has managed several youth and professional teams, including Estudiantes de La Plata's U-20 squad, River Ecuador, Toreros FC, Liga de Portoviejo, Olmedo, Manta FC, Chacaritas, and AD Tarma in Peru. His most recent role at AD Tarma saw him manage 11 games, with two wins, four draws, and five losses, resulting in a 30.3% win rate.

Trobbiani's debut match as Barcelona SC's new manager is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, when the team faces Mushuc Runa in Tungurahua province as part of the 25th round of the Liga Pro. Last year, he briefly managed the team against the same opponent during a transitional period.
