Troops Eliminate Five Terrorists, Rescue 31 Abducted Victims in Zamfara, Katsina

Troops operating under Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma have successfully neutralized five terrorists and rescued 31 individuals who had been abducted in Zamfara and Katsina States. These coordinated operations also resulted in the dismantling of multiple terrorist camps and the seizure of various weapons, motorcycles, and ammunition.

In Zamfara State, a precision air interdiction followed by a ground assault near the Bagega–Kawaye axis led to the rescue of 31 kidnapped victims. These individuals had been held captive for weeks. The rescued victims, identified as residents from several local government areas across Zamfara and Sokoto States, have received medical attention and are being reunited with their families.

Further successes were reported in Zamfara, where troops engaged terrorists along the Maradun and Gidan Dan Jaja axis. This encounter resulted in the neutralization of two terrorists, the destruction of their camps, and the recovery of locally fabricated rifles and four motorcycles. In Katsina State, troops intercepted terrorists in Matazu Local Government Area who were reportedly preparing for an attack. A firefight ensued, leading to the neutralization of three terrorists and the recovery of motorcycles and ammunition. One of the neutralized terrorists was identified as a foot soldier of the notorious kingpin, Muhammad Fulani.

Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma, reiterated the operation's unwavering determination to sustain pressure on terrorist elements in the North-West.
