Troops rescue 10 kidnapped victims in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara

Troops operating under the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation Hadarin Daji, have successfully rescued 10 kidnapped individuals in coordinated operations across Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states. These operations highlight the military's ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and banditry in the region.

During the encounter, five civilians were rescued and subsequently reunited with their families, while two motorcycles abandoned by the terrorists were recovered.

In Sokoto State, five civilians were freed on August 19 after troops encountered and repelled a terrorist ambush during a patrol in the Isa Local Government Area. The swift response forced the terrorists to flee, leaving behind two motorcycles, which were recovered by the troops. The rescued individuals were subsequently reunited with their families.

The operation led to the successful rescue of all three victims, who were subsequently profiled and handed over to the appropriate local authorities.

Further successes were reported in Kebbi State, where three kidnapped victims were rescued on August 18 following an intelligence-led search-and-rescue mission in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area. In Zamfara State, two victims were liberated in Tsafe Local Government Area after troops responded to reports of terrorist activity. Although the victims sustained gunshot wounds, they were promptly evacuated for medical attention.
