Truck and Pickup Collision on Puncak Route Kills Two

A severe traffic accident on the Puncak route in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia, claimed two lives early Thursday morning. The crash involved a truck carrying heavy machinery, identified as a "beko" (excavator), and a pickup truck. The incident occurred in Cugenang village, Cugenang district, when the truck, traveling from Cipanas towards Cianjur, collided with the pickup truck coming from the opposite direction. Six people were involved in the accident. Two victims were pronounced dead at Sayang Cianjur Regional General Hospital, while two others sustained serious injuries and two more suffered minor injuries. Local police and regional government officials responded swiftly to evacuate the victims and the vehicles. The heavy equipment from the truck remains at the scene, blocking traffic on the crucial Puncak route. Efforts are underway to remove the machinery and reopen the road. Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the collision. A thorough crime scene investigation will be conducted once the heavy equipment is cleared.
