Truck collision kills two, injures three in Bangladesh

A horrific road accident on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway in Bangladesh has claimed the lives of two people and left three others seriously injured. The collision involved a truck and a battery-run easy bike, occurring near Sonali Bank Suchona Chattar in Hatibandha upazila.

According to witnesses, the truck was traveling towards the Burimari land port when it collided head-on with the easy bike. The impact was severe, causing the truck to drag the easy bike for some distance before crashing into a motorcycle showroom adjacent to the highway. The easy bike was completely destroyed, and several motorcycles within the showroom also sustained damage.

The injured were rescued and taken to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex, where they are undergoing treatment.

The two passengers on the easy bike, identified as Jahurul Haque, 50, and Abdul Jalil, 52, died at the scene. The three injured individuals, including a woman, were rescued by locals and transported to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Following the accident, locals seized the truck, but the driver and his helper managed to flee. Police have since recovered both the truck and the mangled easy bike, taking them to the police station. The bodies of the deceased have also been recovered and will be handed over to their families after post-mortems. Hatibandha Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ashrafuzzaman Sarker confirmed that police are preparing to file a case related to the incident.
