Truck driver, four others arrested for theft in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a fleeing trailer driver and four accomplices in connection with the theft and dismantling of a trailer, uncovering a suspected criminal syndicate operating in the region.

The breakthrough followed a complaint lodged at the Ifo Divisional Headquarters by the owner of the trailer, who reported that his driver had absconded with the vehicle on 6th June, 2026, and all efforts made to locate him and recover the trailer proved abortive.

The arrests followed a complaint lodged by the trailer owner at the Ifo Divisional Headquarters. The owner reported that his driver, identified as Temitope Omotayo Odulaja, 47, absconded with the vehicle on June 6, 2026, and all subsequent efforts to locate him and the trailer proved unsuccessful.

On 24th July, 2026, acting on credible intelligence, detectives tracked the fleeing driver to Ikorodu, Lagos State, where Temitope Omotayo Odulaja, aged 47, was arrested. The suspect thereafter provided useful information that advanced the investigation.

Detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olabisi Kamorudeen, initiated an intelligence-led investigation and used technical means to track the driver. Acting on credible intelligence, they located and arrested Odulaja in Ikorodu, Lagos State, on July 24, 2026. Odulaja reportedly provided information that advanced the investigation.

On 25th July, 2026, detectives extended the operation to Ijebu-Ode, where Segun Suleiman, aged 27, Haruna Olaogun, aged 49, Jimoh Wasiu, aged 42, and Quazzim Suleiman, aged 49, were arrested at different locations within the area for their alleged involvement in the criminal enterprise.

The following day, July 25, 2026, the investigation extended to Ijebu-Ode, where four other suspects were arrested at various locations. These individuals, identified as Segun Suleiman, 27; Haruna Olaogun, 49; Jimoh Wasiu, 42; and Quazzim Suleiman, 49, are alleged to be involved in the criminal enterprise. Preliminary findings suggest the stolen trailer was dismantled shortly after its theft, with its components unlawfully disposed of. The police have recovered parts of the trailer, including the head, and are continuing efforts to apprehend other syndicate members and recover the remaining stolen parts.
