Truck overturns in Neamț, Romania, hitting utility infrastructure and homes

A truck overturned early Monday morning in Pipirig, Neamț County, Romania, causing significant damage. The vehicle struck two electricity poles, ruptured a natural gas pipeline, and crashed through the fences of two residential properties before coming to a halt.

The accident occurred around 5:15 AM on DN 15B. Emergency crews, including firefighters, SMURD paramedics, the County Ambulance Service, police, and representatives from electricity and gas distribution companies, were mobilized to the scene. The truck, loaded with food and non-food products, was carrying two individuals: the 21-year-old driver and a 20-year-old female passenger.

Preliminary reports indicate the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons yet to be determined, causing it to leave the roadway and overturn. Firefighters used extrication equipment to free the female passenger, who was trapped amidst the wreckage. She sustained multiple injuries and was transported to the hospital by the ambulance service. The driver received medical attention at the scene before being taken to the hospital by SMURD for further examination.

Due to the damage to the electricity grid and the gas pipeline, utility company representatives worked to repair the lines and mitigate any risks. Traffic on DN 15B was blocked in both directions for several hours, with normal flow only resuming after 8:00 AM. Local media reported on the extensive damage caused by the overturned truck.

Firefighters intervened to safely extract the victim from inside the cabin. Subsequently, the victim, a 20-year-old woman who presented with trauma, was taken by the SAJ crew and transported to the hospital.
