Trucker Drives Backward on Autobahn After Missing Exit, Causes Crash

A 58-year-old truck driver is facing criminal charges after causing a multi-vehicle accident on the A27 highway by driving in reverse. The incident occurred when the driver missed his intended exit at the Bremer Kreuz interchange, which would have led him onto the A1 towards Osnabrück.

Instead of proceeding to the next exit, the driver chose to reverse his semi-truck on the autobahn. During this maneuver, he first collided with the rear of a car driven by a 39-year-old. This initial impact then pushed the 39-year-old's vehicle into a third car, occupied by a 52-year-old.

The consequences of the collision included minor injuries to a 38-year-old female passenger in the first car struck. She was transported to a hospital for treatment. The police have initiated criminal proceedings against the truck driver, citing negligent bodily harm and endangering road traffic.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing. The accident caused disruptions on the A27, highlighting the dangers of reversing on a high-speed motorway.
