Trump administration plans $4 million for right-wing media in Europe

The Trump administration plans to direct $4 million toward right-conservative media in Europe, placing the funding inside a larger proposed package for groups advancing conservative initiatives.

The overall program would provide at least $25 million to civil-society organizations in European countries. Reuters sources cited by 24.kg said $3 million would support a project documenting and analyzing what it describes as a retreat from democratic norms. The project would examine mass and illegal migration, the condition of independent media and legislative initiatives by supranational bodies.

Another $1 million would go toward creating an organization for journalists who are not employed by government media. Its focus would include national sovereignty, natural rights and religious freedom in Europe.

The planned grants could sharpen existing tensions between the Trump administration and European governments. Some governments, including Germany, have accused Washington and Trump supporter Elon Musk of intervening in their domestic politics. Trump openly urged Hungarians to vote for Viktor Orbán in the country’s most recent parliamentary election, while Musk has supported Germany’s far-right Alternative for Germany party.
