Washington D.C. is set to host an unprecedented event as an IndyCar race, the "Freedom 250 Grand Prix," is scheduled to take place next month. U.S. President Donald Trump attended a preview demonstration of the race at the White House on July 13, announcing that the main event will occur on July 22-23.

This race is being organized as part of the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of American independence. It follows a similar event, an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) competition, held at the White House on June 14, also as part of the independence anniversary celebrations.

The president highlighted that the race cars will speed along Pennsylvania Avenue, a central and symbolic road in Washington connecting the White House and the U.S. Capitol, famously used for presidential inauguration parades. Trump also drew a parallel to the earlier UFC event at the White House, which he claimed set historical viewership records. He expressed his expectation that the upcoming IndyCar race would similarly achieve the highest viewership in the history of motorsports.
