Trump Cancels Planned Attacks on Iran, Citing Deal Prospects and Israeli Support

U.S. President Donald Trump has abruptly called off planned military strikes against Iran, citing a request from Iran and other Middle Eastern nations to hold off on an attack. The decision, announced via his Truth Social platform, hinges on Iran's swift agreement to a deal that would ensure the immediate and complete opening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to its nuclear threat.

Trump stated that the U.S. was "locked and loaded" and prepared for a powerful military response, but agreed to the pause for the "future benefit of the WORLD and, likewise, the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran." Notably, Israel has aligned with the U.S. in this commitment, signaling a unified front among key regional players.

The USA is locked and loaded and ready to go against the Islamic Republic of Iran, at levels of Military Terror, Strength, and Power not seen since World War II. Despite this, we have just been asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries, to hold off any attack in that the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to.

The announcement comes amid heightened tensions, with Iran having previously cautioned the United States against any "adventurous action." Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif had reportedly informed Pakistani and Turkish officials that Iran would respond decisively to any "aggression." The U.S. had previously threatened further attacks if necessary, following a period of strained diplomatic talks.

This development represents a significant, albeit conditional, de-escalation. The proposed deal's core components, securing the vital Hormuz shipping lane and curbing Iran's nuclear ambitions, have been long-standing U.S. objectives.
