Trump Claims '100% Control' Over Strait of Hormuz, Demands Iranian Reparations

U.S. President Donald Trump declared that the United States Navy maintains "100 percent control" over the Strait of Hormuz, describing the naval presence as an "infallible" blockade that dictates passage. Speaking to reporters, Trump asserted that the U.S. allows specific individuals and entities to transit the vital waterway while preventing any passage into Iran.

The only one that has control of the Strait of Hormuz right now is the United States Navy. We have a blockade that's been infallible. It's a steel wall. And we let people in that we want to let in, and those people come in, and they've been coming in, and they're going out. We do not let them go into Iran. They're not admitted into the Strait to go to Iran. We control the Strait of Hormuz 100%.

Trump also stated that Iran should pay reparations for damages incurred over the last 50 years, framing this as a counter-demand to Iran's own requests for compensation related to past U.S. actions. He indicated that Washington would seek financial restitution for the casualties and injuries caused by attacks linked to Iran, referencing incidents like the 2000 USS Cole bombing and other regional events.

Earlier, Trump had rejected Iran's demand for financial compensation concerning alleged damages from U.S.-Israeli military operations. He argued that Tehran should be held accountable for its own actions, particularly after refusing to abandon its nuclear weapons ambitions. The President specifically mentioned the "last five months Military Conflict" and Iran's alleged role in numerous fatalities.

He claimed that 52,000 people had died in the last five months due to Iranian actions. Trump confirmed he has instructed American negotiators to incorporate these demands into all future diplomatic discussions with Tehran.
