Former U.S. President Donald Trump paid tribute to Senator Lindsey Graham, a close ally, describing him as an "unforgettable friend" and a "great politician" during a eulogy delivered at the National Cathedral in Washington. Graham, a Republican senator from South Carolina, passed away on July 11 at the age of 71 due to a cardiac condition.

"He passed away at the peak of his career, at the height of his art, as a legend," Trump stated in his tribute. He highlighted Graham's journey from a small rural town in South Carolina to becoming a "constant pillar of American politics at the highest levels," attributing this rise to his "unwavering convictions," "magnetic personality," and "noble soul."

Notable figures present at the service included Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Graham was a prominent voice within Washington's interventionist camp, advocating strongly for Ukraine's defense against Russian invasion and increased sanctions on Moscow. He was also a staunch supporter of Israel.

During a separate appearance on Fox News, Trump remarked, "Frankly, Lindsey loved war," adding, "He never saw a war he didn't like." Graham had long advocated for military intervention against Iran and viewed the U.S.-led conflict with Israel in February as a significant victory. Tehran had previously accused the senator of being "malicious" following his death.

Graham, first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994 and then to the Senate in 2002, was continuously re-elected. He held influential positions, including chairman of the budget committee, and was known for his opposition to abortion.
