Trump Inaugurates New Air Force One, a Gift from Qatar

President Donald Trump has debuted the new Air Force One, a controversial gift from Qatar that will serve as a temporary presidential aircraft. The plane is intended to fill the gap until Boeing delivers two new Air Force One jets, a process expected to take another two years due to previous delays and cost overruns.

Trump expressed his enthusiasm for the aircraft, stating, “To be honest, I’m excited for the first flight. Nobody has ever seen anything like it.” He noted that the plane had been modified with security and other features befitting a president. The Boeing 747-8, though originally manufactured in the United States, was gifted by the wealthy Gulf emirate, which also plays a key role in mediating U.S.-Iran talks.

Critics have voiced ethical, constitutional, and security concerns over a foreign government donating an aircraft valued at hundreds of millions of dollars. The first flight occurred just a day after Trump faced new ethical scrutiny regarding his family's cryptocurrency businesses, which reportedly generated around $1.2 billion last year.

The presidential plane will accompany Trump and his entourage on an official trip to North Dakota for an event at the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, part of the celebrations for the 250th anniversary of U.S. Independence.
