Trump: Iran agreed to deal, canceled tonight's raids

President Donald Trump announced late Thursday that he had called off planned airstrikes against Iran.

Trump stated on Truth Social that "discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest levels of Iranian leadership and approved." He added that "the discussions and final points have been approved, both conceptually and in detail, by all parties involved," including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and several other nations.

The U.S. also announced that it would seize Iranian assets to compensate Gulf countries that have been damaged by attacks. Meanwhile, Iran had previously threatened to completely close the Strait of Hormuz "until further notice" and claimed to have hit the Azraq airbase in Jordan, destroying U.S. jets. Iranian media reported explosions near the Strait of Hormuz and active air defenses over Tehran.

Despite the de-escalation announced by Trump, the Pentagon described the attacks as an "act of coercive diplomacy." U.S. ships reported that commercial vessels were transiting Hormuz safely, with no U.S. vessels being hit.
