Trump Names Condition for an Immediate Meeting With Putin

Donald Trump said he would meet Vladimir Putin immediately if necessary, but added that he wanted such a meeting to take place only when the parties were ready to conclude a peace agreement.

He would do it if I wanted to. But I want to do it when we are ready to make a peace agreement.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said Putin would agree to another summit if Trump wanted one. He said he preferred to wait until there was a basis for a peace deal and added that he believed the meeting would take place after the war ended.

We want to have good relations with Russia, Ukraine, with everybody. That would be great for business. Russia has great lands, very valuable lands. A lot of good things are happening.

Trump also said the United States wanted good relations with Russia, Ukraine and other countries. He linked those relations to business opportunities and praised Russia’s valuable land and natural resources.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said a trilateral meeting involving Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Putin would be possible only for the formalization of agreements.
