The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York is one of the most significant prosecutorial offices in the United States. If confirmed, McDonald will lead an office responsible for a wide range of critical cases, including terrorism, espionage, securities fraud, and public corruption. McDonald's legal background includes representing Trump in the appeals related to the criminal convictions stemming from the "hush money" payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.
