Trump posts photo with Kim Jong Un, says 'we get along GREAT'

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has reignited discussion about his past engagement with North Korea by sharing a photograph of himself with leader Kim Jong Un on his Truth Social platform. The image, taken during their 2019 meeting at the Panmunjom joint security area, shows the two leaders standing side-by-side.

Accompanying the photo, Trump commented, "The look on the faces in the picture are not friendly but we have many pictures where we are smiling" and asserted, "Kim Jong Un and I get along GREAT." This statement comes despite the somber expressions captured in the specific image he chose to share from their 2019 encounter.

This is not the first time Trump has publicly shared images from his summits with Kim. In June, he posted a photo from their 2018 Singapore meeting. Analysts suggest these periodic releases of photos signal Trump's continued interest in resuming high-level talks with North Korea. Some experts, like Victor Cha of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, have speculated that a renewed summit could potentially occur after the upcoming U.S. midterm elections, particularly if Kim Jong Un adopts a new strategy in relations with the United States.
