Trump pushes for $250 bill with his portrait

Donald Trump is reportedly advocating for the creation of a new $250 U.S. bill that would feature his own portrait. This initiative, if realized, would mark the first time a living individual's image appears on American currency in more than 150 years, a move described by many as unprecedented.

According to The Washington Post, Trump administration officials have urged the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to design this new denomination. High-ranking Treasury Department official Brandon Beach, who holds a largely supervisory and symbolic role in currency matters, and presidential advisor Mike Brown are reportedly working to have the bill ready by July 4, 2026, coinciding with the United States' 250th anniversary.

Drafts of the proposed bill have allegedly been created, and the matter has been discussed with Trump himself. While the process appears to be in its early stages, preparations are ongoing. However, current U.S. law permits only deceased individuals to be depicted on currency, meaning this proposal would necessitate a legislative amendment to proceed.
