Trump’s Popularity Plummets. Here’s What Betting Markets Say Ahead of November’s Elections

Donald Trump’s standing among Republican voters has taken a sharp hit less than two months before the crucial November midterm elections. The latest NBC News Decision Desk poll found that the share of Republicans who strongly approve of his performance has dropped by nearly 10 percentage points.

The survey, conducted from August 20 to September 1, found that 41% of Republican respondents now strongly approve of Trump’s work. In the previous poll, conducted in March and April, that figure stood at 52%.

At the same time, the proportion of Republicans who somewhat approve of Trump has increased. It rose from 31% in the earlier survey to 39% in the new one.

Trump himself has publicly sounded the alarm. He warned Republicans that losing control of Congress would amount to a direct route toward his impeachment. The poll comes as the November elections approach and as the president’s support within his own party shows signs of weakening.
