Trump says blockade of Iran delivered a very harsh lesson

Donald Trump said the blockade against Iran had worked far better than expected, claiming that the country had been punished severely and taught a harsh lesson.

Speaking at an event in the White House gardens about the restructuring of the U.S. steel industry after the September 11 attacks, Trump also said Iran would never obtain a nuclear weapon. He said the United States was fighting because a country seeking such a weapon had come very close to getting one, but no longer had that chance.

Trump described the U.S. Navy's maritime blockade as highly successful. He said it had significantly enabled tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and was so strong and effective that nobody had expected it to work so well.

He also remembered those killed in the September 11 attacks and said the United States was making every effort to prevent similar attacks from happening again. After the speech, Trump awarded medals to relatives of some of the victims.
